October means that we are well into the fall months, and preparing for the holiday season. We love checking out other’s monthly favorites, and sharing our own, especially around this time of the year because you come out of it with some great gift ideas. Our October monthly favorites are filled with fun goodies that women will love. And we promise it is 100% pure coincidence that we chose all beauty products this month! I guess we just want to keep looking our best now that our summer glow is gone.

October Monthly Favorites
I have been loving this Hanalei Lip Treatment, which is cruelty and paraben free. I heard a lot of bloggers talking about it, since it came in an Ipsy delivery. My lips have been so dry lately that I was desperate to try something new. (I just felt like my go-to Rosebud Salve wasn’t cutting it anymore) I am so glad I tried it! This stuff is amazing and my lips are super soft now! I put this on before bed and it is still on my lips when I wake up, NO JOKE! It also smells amazing. Now this small tube costs $15 bucks, which might sound like a lot… but it is WORTH it. Also, you use such a small amount, so I feel like this will last me a very long time. If you are looking for a lip balm that is petroleum free, try the LipDrink Sheer Lip Balm by Jane Iredale. Next, I want to try this Agave Lip Mask from Bite Beauty, which contains triple the amount of the anti-oxidant, resveratrol (the healthy stuff found in red wine). As I get older, I am realizing my lips need some TLC and it is worth it to spend a little extra on quality products.
If you like make up even a little bit, then you inevitably have to deal with the most disliked part… cleaning your brushes. It is definitely my least favorite thing to do, right up there with laundry and dishes (Martha Stewart totally kicked me out of Domestic Goddess School). But it absolutely necessary to keep bacteria from building up and your complexion breakout free. It also extends the life of your brushes (when done right) and makes applying makeup easier too. A friend recently gave me this Sigma Beauty Express Brush Cleaning Mat and I was blown away by how fast and easy it made this chore. It is a silicone mat with seven different textured surfaces designed for washing, rinsing and refining everything from large face to tiny eyeshadow brushes. It even has little suction cups underneath to keep it from moving around in your sink. I cleaned each brush in less than a minute and was very pleasantly surprised that my bristles looked extra clean, but weren’t at all frazzled after drying. Just put a little dollop of vegan unscented liquid castile soap on both the wash sections for face and eyes, then splash your brush in running water and start swirling. This soap will get them squeaky clean, but keep them nourished and conditioned, without toxic chemicals. The mat does all the work for you and my brushes looked brand new afterwards. Look at the difference in the brush stains on the bottom row of photos! Now, I want you to know there is a cheaper knockoff on Amazon. The wash textures don’t look like they would be as gentle on your brushes, but if I hadn’t received the Sigma one as a gift, I would probably have bought the cheaper version myself. As much as I love my Morphe brushes, this product has made me want to try out some Sigma brushes, and now I have my eyes on this travel set from Sigma.
I have been loving the Manna Kadar Beauty Day-Dream Palette because of these colors! There is just something about these warm colors that is absolutely perfect for fall! Plus it is perfect for travel because it has everything I need: 6 shadows, contour, blush and 2 highlights, all in one convenient and portable palette! If you have a deeper skin tone than mine and still want a small portable palette with everything you need, you might try Jane Iredale’s Color Sample Kit in Medium/Deep, which has a mineral foundation, concealer, blush, 3 shadows, lipstick, gloss and two brushes. Now I am totally addicted to eyeshadow and have been scoping out the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Eyeshadow Palette because the rich berry, wine and violet colors are perfect for winter.
This month, and every month, I live for false lashes. I wear falsies like no other, and I love the way that they complete or make my entire look. I wear them alone, with no liner or shadow, to just give me the look that I tried even though I really didn’t. Then, when you wear them with liner and the whole get-up, they just add a “wow” factor to your eyes. I am not kidding when I say that 85% of the time when I am wearing makeup, I am also wearing false lashes. If you’ve never tried false lashes, or only tried the cheap ones from the grocery store for prom ten years ago, you owe it to yourself to get this Velour Silk Lash Starter Kit, which includes a beautiful pair of whispy flared SILK lashes, brush on adhesive and a lash applicator for under $30 (a STEAL). The House of Lashes latex and cruelty-free lash glue is my personal favorite and the House of Lashes “Smokey Muse” are very similar to the style pictured below. I also really love the Ardell Glamour Whispies for a lighter look. If you want the details on this makeup look, check out our post, One Makeup Look on Four Different Skin Tones.
We always love finding new products so we’d love to hear…What are you loving this month?
