It’s September already?! This year is just flying by! We are already one full month into the launch of Strong Girl Collective, and could not be more excited about it. Since there are four founding ladies of this site, we thought a compilation of our monthly favorites at the beginning of each month would be a great idea.
It’s fun to see what everyone else has been loving, and it gives you the chance to find some things that you might love as well. Women always find the best products and goodies to love 😉 As with most of our posts, some links may be affiliate links. This means at no additional cost to you, we may make a small commission on anything you buy through the link. You don’t pay anything extra, but you help support your favorite blog with something you would have bought anyways. Thanks for supporting us so we can keep on bringing you great free content!
Monthly Favorites for September
For going on a year now, I have been loving my backpack purse. Truthfully, I have never stopped loving the idea of purses you can carry on your back and leave your hands free. Since they went back out of fashion in the…er… 90’s? 2000’s? I don’t know. Whenever they left the shelfs, I have been bereft at only having a traditional purse option. I was somewhat appeased with the idea of the cross-body purse, but the straps across my chest always made me break out. So last summer after the birth of my son, I was stuck carrying a diaper bag and stuffing my purse essentials in one of the pockets. I looked high and low for a diaper bag backpack option, but they were all manly and ugly. We all know a new mom needs to feel chic when carrying a diaper backpack (LOL). Needless to say, I made a very emotional postpartum (aka not frugal) decision when I saw the Jetsetter Convertible Backpack from Henri Bendel.
I bought it immediately. While I would never have spent that much on a bag in my right mind, I can tell you, I don’t regret it. It serves perfectly as a diaper bag and purse combo, while leaving your hands free to cart a child from newborn to toddler. It’s big enough to carry ALL THE THINGS you need as a woman and a new mom. It has a big pocket inside the main compartment that fits 4 diapers (from newborn to Size 4) perfectly. It also has lots of exterior pockets and zippered compartments to keep certain things separate. As you can see below, it has room for so much stuff. I have diapers, wipes, a full-size collapsible umbrella, toys, nursing cover, lip gloss, wallet, keys, snacks, bibs, spoons, a spare outfit. Plus my stuff. That’s my baby’s sippy cup in the outer pocket. After a year of baby spit up, carting snacks and bottles, plus being pummeled by my toddler on the regular, it somehow still looks brand spanking new. The black nylon makes for easy clean up, while the leather and gold trim keeps me looking put together. They offer it in multiple colors, but now that the world has caught on to my genius in 2016, you can also find some cheaper options below. The second one looks EXACTLY like my bag.
I am always obsessed with my Kindle, but this past month I did a really good job making time to read, so my love for it was even stronger than usual. A few months back I decided to upgrade my old 2nd generation Kindle with the latest version and I am SO happy I did. It is so small and easy to tote around. I personally like the original glare free screen better than the paperwhite, so I stuck with that. My husband and I went away for the weekend this month and I had the opportunity to relax and read on the beach(in glare-free heaven)! Since I have a Prime membership, I take advantage of Kindle First, where I get to select a new book for FREE each month from 6 editor’s picks. If you aren’t already a Prime member, you can try a 30-Day Free Trial to get access to the free pre-release books like me, rent other Kindle books, plus free 2-day shipping, and a bunch of unlimited streaming video! I have been eyeing this adorable Kindle cover from Jonathan Adler too. My favorite summer reads were Modern Lovers & You Are a Bad Ass. I highly recommend both!
This month I have loved getting outdoors for my workouts, but since it’s August, I need to make sure I’m staying properly hydrated! So this month I’m absolutely loving my High Sierra Hydration Pack! There are a few reasons I’m obsessed with this backpack right now. First, it’s lightweight which if you’re heading outdoors for a workout is a huge plus. Nobody wants to do a 10-mile hike on a Saturday morning while lugging around a big bulky backpack. Secondly, it’s crazy comfortable. Another huge plus for me because I don’t want to spend all of my time adjusting my bag or fidgeting because my backpack isn’t really very comfortable. The hydration pouch is also super easy to fill up which is great because you don’t want to feel like you’re making a mess everywhere each time you fill up the pouch! This bag is also incredibly affordable which means you have no excuses not to get one and then plan an outdoor adventure this fall!
This month I have been loving anything with cutouts. There are so many cute pieces of clothing and accessories out there that have beautiful cutouts and small, laser cut details. I am obsessed! Plus, it is so on trend at the moment. The laser cut shoes below I picked up from Shoedazzle, and they are one of my favorite pairs of black heels at the moment. They just make you feel sassy!
